Lee
Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteering for the community. At first the Selmons were raised by Lucious and Jessie Selmon on their Eufala farm. He was their youngest of nine kids. In football, he played with his three siblings for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. A year later, in 1973 Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's top lineman. During his three seasons as Oklahoma's starter The Sooners finished 31-1-1 and claimed two championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975 and named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon graduated with a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work in his college days. He returned to Tampa following his college years, playing for the Buccaneers for nine years and was three-times all-pro. The beginning of his business career came. In 1988, he was appointed an account relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He as well worked for the following associations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. So it's not surprising that it was a surprise to hear that he was voted one of the top 10 young men in the country in 1982 by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. In his student days, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 lbs. He was captain of his university team in the year 1975. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. The College Football Hall of Fame named him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
